Use this page when you need to understand or explain what clients can do after they receive portal access. The client portal lets them upload documents, answer accounting questions, review transactions, read reports, connect source systems, and manage their own profile.
Start From The Portal Home
Use the home screen to orient the client before sending them into a specific task. On desktop, the main work areas are visible at once: Upload Documents, Transactions, Work, Reports, and MY.
On mobile, the same areas are reachable through the compact home cards and the bottom navigation. This is the view most clients will use when replying from a phone.

Switch Between Client Access
If a person has access to more than one client, use the client switcher at the top. Confirm the client name before uploading files, answering work, or reviewing reports.

Upload Documents
Open Documents when the client needs to send statements, receipts, checks, contracts, payroll files, or any other source document. On desktop, use Select files, review the recent document history, then send the upload.

Use the document row or preview action when the client needs to confirm what was already uploaded.

On mobile, after selecting a file, the client should confirm the selected file count and press Send documents. Use Add more if the request needs multiple attachments.

Review Or Question Transactions
Open Transactions when the client needs to identify an item, answer a question, or ask the accounting team about a bank line. The account picker controls which feed is shown. Upload Statement adds a new source file. Search, Status, and Ask help the client find the right transaction and send context.

Use the account picker when the client has more than one feed or account. Confirm the account before asking a question or uploading a statement.

Use Status when the client only wants to inspect posted, pending, excluded, or other filtered transaction states.

Use Upload Statement when the client has a statement file to send, or Connect Bank when they need to connect a bank feed instead.

On mobile, tap Ask on the transaction. The dialog includes the transaction context, the question field, and the Send button.

Review Uploaded Sources
Use Sources inside Transactions to see uploaded statements and source files that created or supported the feed. View opens the source detail when the client or firm needs to confirm where data came from.

Answer Work Requests
Open Work when the accounting team has sent a client question or task. Use the status filters to focus the list, then open the relevant item.

On mobile, the request detail shows the status, linked accounting context, conversation history, reply box, Attach files, and Send. This is the fastest path for a client to unblock a bookkeeper from a phone.

Review Reports
Open Reports when the client wants to read financial statements without entering the firm workspace. Desktop gives the clearest view for Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss review, and Ask AI is available for report questions.

Use Ask AI when the client wants to ask a question about the report they are reading.

On mobile, use the report tabs and report controls to move through the report. For deeper review, ask the client to use desktop if the report needs wide-table inspection.

Review Journals
Open Journals when the client needs visibility into posted journal entries. Use Search and the date filter to narrow the list. Use Ask to send a question about an entry.

On mobile, use Search to find an entry and Ask to send a question back to the accounting team.

Connect Bank Feeds And Apps
Open Integrations when the client needs to connect a bank feed or business app. The bank feed action starts the connection flow. App cards such as Stripe and Shopify show the current connection state and the next action.

On mobile, the same connection actions appear as stacked cards. This is useful when a client is connecting from a phone during onboarding.

Manage Profile And Sign Out
Open MY when the client needs to update their profile, confirm who manages the account, or log out from a shared device.

Use Edit Profile when the client needs to update profile details, then save or cancel the change.

Check Before You Leave
The client should know which screen matches the task: Documents for files, Transactions for bank-line questions, Work for firm requests, Reports for financial statements, Journals for posted entries, Integrations for source connections, and MY for profile or logout.
